Maybe this flag football is just the beginning. Who knows maybe a pro someday. Actually Nathan is already a pro. Grandma loves you Nathan!!!Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-90493879183315176992011-08-23T06:30:00.000-07:002011-08-23T06:30:03.413-07:00Everything does happen for a reason even though we might never know what that reason is.It was a year ago that Nathan was diagnosis with Cancer. ( 8/11/2010) I am so happy that Nathan is in remission. I remember when this first happen I used to ask God why me, why my son, I can't do this! Nathan gave me so much strength through this all, he never once complain or asked why? I remember having to get in the shower every morning before anyone woke up so I could cry. Now I wake up every morning and Thank God for the miracle he performed on Nathan. I know we still have to pray and continue to ask God to perform a miracle on Nate. But, I am so THANKFUL for everything. We all take life for granted, including myself. Everything does happen for a reason even though we might never know what that reason is.Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-74607508084925294252011-06-05T08:35:00.000-07:002011-06-05T08:35:47.380-07:00Nathan is finished!Nathan is finished with everything chemo and radiation!!! In about a month he will get his port-a-cath taken out! so after 2 Biopsy, 14 chemo treatments, 18 Dr. visits, 6 ER visits, hair loss, 6 antibiotic treatments, 47 in-patient stays, 8 fever/Neutropenia, 1 Line Placement port, 2 lumbar puncture, 220 Blood Draws/pokes, 44 Radiation, 1 surgery, 22 CT scans/MRI/X-rays, and 21 Transfusions-we can say he's DONE! I am one proud mommy! Nate has grown up so much, we are so proud of him! We just wanted to thank everyone for all their prays and continue support! Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-5810169325789287162011-03-22T07:33:00.000-07:002011-03-22T07:37:35.346-07:00almost overAfter a very long 6 weeks of Radiation Nathan finally completed Radiation Therapy on February 24th,2011. His arm has healed and there is no more sunburn or blisters. He only has two more Chemotherapy treatments left! He was to go in on this last Monday for one of them, but his counts are two low.
Nathan is over all this, He is ready to start school and play sports with all the other kids his age. As his Mother, I feel his pain, I want him as well to have all the fun I know he can have. Also as his mom I am so proud of him. He has shown me how strong he is and that anything is possible. Nathan has been my strength through this all. Everyday I wake up and cry, not only because this sucks to go through all of this but because he is almost done. Nathan never complains, he goes with it, he is going to beat cancer and grow up to do amazing things!
Thank You Nate for your strength and getting me through this.
Thank You to everyone who has kept my family in your prayers.Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-41806328242454040722011-01-25T12:17:00.000-08:002011-01-25T12:17:51.921-08:00doing goodNathan has been doing very well. His counts are really high! Radiation has been going very good, his skin is getting a little red, but no blisters or irritation, so no complaints. He is feeling a little fatigue from it, but no more than expected.
He has grown up a lot over these last couple weeks. We are very proud of him. In fact me and Nathan watched a video about 46 mommas who shaved their head for there kids who have had to battle cancer or who are battling cancer. Nathan thought it was pretty cool, during the video they said that 46 kids in the united states are diagnosed with cancer every weekday.
Me and Nate talk about different things we want to do after he is done with his treatments, and I think God I don't want to do any of it, I just want to forget about it. I mean I even hate writing this blog, because who wants to give updates about their kids cancer? but, at the same time I know that Nathan will be able to go and play with kids who will be going through treatment and it won't bother him, to him they are normal and not different and if that will make other kids feel special than I know I will want to experience that with him.Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-52629503844050048552011-01-03T03:51:00.000-08:002011-01-03T03:51:33.837-08:00counts are lowNathan has been doing very well, He had a wonderful Christmas. He was able to come home on 12/24 and enjoy Christmas. He went in on Tuesday for some blood and was able to come home, Thursady he started to get a low fever, called the doctor and he wanted him to go to the hospital, we have been here since. Nathens seems to be doing fine, he still has a very good appetite and he still all over the place, he just cant seem to keep his counts up, We have no idea when we will be going home. Today he will go down to Radiation for his trial run, to see if he can sit still for a couple mins so he does not have to be sedated for 6 weeks. So we are hoping that it is not painful so he can handle it. Well he is getting more blood right now, so we are hopefully his counts will stay up and we can go hme in the next couple days, even though at this point he also due for his 2-day chemo treatment. I am hoping he can go home for a couple days before his treatment. Thank you veryone for all your prayers.Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-617110293592827382010-12-17T03:28:00.000-08:002010-12-17T03:28:47.222-08:00waiting for treatmentNate's platelets are too low for chemo. He is feeling great and very active. We are just hoping that he will be able to go in Monday for his treatment, then he would be home on the 24th. We still are very thankful for where Nathan is at this time of his treatment, we are getting very good response from chemotherapy and could not be happier. He is eating good, but very picky about what he eats, his favorite foods are not his favorite anymore. We keep trying to get him to eat different things, but most of the time it's just cereal, as long as he eats we will be happy.
He went Friday for his 2-day chemo stay, when he left Saturday he danced all the way to the truck. Can't blame him. He will go Friday for radiation, I am nervous about that, but hopefully he handles it like he has everything else.
We celebrated his Birthday today, he had so much fun! He has been playing all day, it has been so much fun just watching him and Jenna play with everything, I love that they are so close.
Will post pictures soon, Thank you everyone for all your prayers.Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-79237329089248957312010-11-29T17:43:00.000-08:002010-11-29T17:43:53.167-08:00Platelets to lowNate's platelets were to low for his treatment today, Nathan was so happy when the doctor told him he did not have to stay the night. So we will enjoy this week and go back Thursday for a radiation appointment and Friday for his two-day Chemo Treatment. We will be celebrating his birthday on Sunday and he is wanting all the original birthday things, like pin-the-tail on the donkey and a piñata. So I am going to make sure that he has everything down to the silly hats! Nathan is such a fighter that he deserves to have some fun as well! I really do believe this week is a needed break and a blessing from God.Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-82328823406884755872010-11-26T14:24:00.000-08:002010-11-26T14:24:03.679-08:00finally homeNathan got to come home from the Hospital yesterday. We do not know when he will get to go home. We are hoping soon since it's Thanksgiving weekend and he starts radiation next week. Once he starts radiation he will have to go to the Hospital everyday 5 times weeks, plus they will continue with the chemo every two weeks. This will be very hard on him. We have faith that he will get through this. We just have to keep reminding ourselves that he is fighting this and that he is getting very good results. We want to thank everyone who has been praying for Nathan.Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-50140665078990143092010-11-17T07:24:00.000-08:002010-11-17T07:24:19.204-08:00home from the hospitalWe are home from the hospital! Thankful, it was not me. For I knew that if it was me, I wouldn’t be able to handle it. It would cause me too much heart ache and pain.
I know how hard it is to find that strength. Sometimes I just want to scream!! People always say oh you are so strong, we are praying for you, my heart goes out to you, but when they hang up the phone or they turn around and walk away, their lives are normal, they can walk away and keep going along with there day, but want is great about this is that Nathan is strong, and he does turn around with a smile and he keeps playing, he doesn't care, and thats AWESOME!!Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7207073284668601076.post-28660900162403101782010-10-19T17:15:00.000-07:002010-10-19T17:15:41.720-07:00needing strengthNathan just got home from the Hospital, his haemoglobin's and white cells were very low yesterday, we took him to Brenner's and he was admitted to get a blood transfusion, he also had a blood culture done, checking for infection, we are hopeful that it will be ruled out. During his blood transfusion he started to run a fever, he stayed over night, this morning they ran his CBC and his platelets were low, so he got some platelets today, his fever went down. We were able to come home this evening. We will be taking him Thursday morning to check his CBC, if they are back up to normal than he will go in that same day for chemo treatment, if not then he will be going Monday morning for his chemo treatment. The good news is that Nathan is feeling good and has no fever. Initial results from the blood culture so far rule out infection.Nathan's Journeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13698579368174997093noreply@blogger.com0
